Bar ahiru-sha
A moment to unwind in the city.
Perched on the 2th floor in Kagurazaka, Bar ahiru-sha offers a tranquil counter setting where guests can unwind to vinyl jazz alongside bespoke Scotch whiskies and craft cocktails like a clam-infused Bloody Caesar.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Tucked away at the back of a 2th-floor hallway off the upper main street of Kagurazaka, Bar ahiru-sha immediately distances itself from the neighborhood's bustle. Step past the entrance, and the ambiance softens into gentle jazz spinning from vinyl records, set against rows of bottles catching the low counter light. Rather than flipping through a fixed menu, the appeal here lies in chatting casually with the bartender about your mood and preferred flavors to shape your glass for the night.
Among the house cocktails, the Bloody Caesar crafted with house-made Clamato juice is particularly distinctive. Poured pale and mellow, the drink layers the gentle sweetness and acidity of tomato with the savory depth of clam broth, drinking almost like a delicate, chilled savory soup. Classic favorites like clean gin-based libations, Moscow Mules, and crisp Martinis are mixed with the same measured precision.
For evenings best spent with a dram of whisky, the back bar offers plenty of depth. Peaty Islay staples such as Laphroaig share shelf space with bottlings from Caol Ila and Glen Garioch, alongside Japanese whiskies that invite slow contemplation neat.
Seating is centered along the bar counter, with a house policy that welcomes only solo guests and small parties to maintain the subdued, peaceful atmosphere. Whether you are engrossed in a book on your own or murmuring quietly with a companion, it makes for a calming sanctuary.
